The breakup has been rumored for some time, but now it's OFFICIAL-official: This February's New York Fashion Week will be the last one held at Lincoln Center. According to Racked, a blogger came across some New York City legal documents that show the parks and recreation department has court-ordered NYFW to leave Lincoln Center once its current contract ends in February.
We're not exactly sure where all the shenanigans will be based next—all signs (and former mayor Mike Bloomberg) have pointed to Hudson Yards, but development of the area is still in the works. Then again, many designers choose to show elsewhere in Manhattan (and sometimes Brooklyn), so perhaps competition for popular spaces like Chelsea Piers and Milk Studios will simply grow in the meantime. But still, it feels a bit like the end of an (albeit short) era—Lincoln Center was home to NYFW for four years after it moved from its original home in Bryant Park.
