‘Fashion Police’ Honors Joan Rivers On Touching Season Premiere

It was a bitter sweet celebration on the season premiere of ‘Fashion Police’ on E! As the show welcomed new host Kathy Griffin, it paid heartfelt tribute to the late and great Joan Rivers.
Fans and friends of Joan Rivers are not at all over the comedienne’s death, and now that the awards season is officially underway, her absence can be felt more than ever. When the red carpet commentator passed away late last year, she was still under contract with Fashion Police, so it’s only fitting that the show honored her in its season premiere. Check out the way her cohosts memorialized their fallen fashionista!
‘Fashion Police’ Premiere Honors Joan Rivers
Joan Rivers passed away on Sept. 4 of last year due to complications from a throat surgery and, though the diva was 81, her death felt completely unexpected. That feeling only became more apparent when we realized how many jobs Joan was leaving behind!
Do you think Kathy was the right choice to replace Joan?

On the season premiere episode on Jan. 12, comedian Kathy Griffin, who was selected to carry on Joan’s legacy, made a touching tribute to her predecessor.
“Before I start making more enemies and burning more bridges, I just want to thank my good friend whom we all miss, Joan Rivers,” Kathy said to audience cheers. “Of course, Joan, I know you’re watching from heaven but don’t get it twisted. I will not be afraid to bring the hammer down on anyone and everyone– I learned from the best.”
So sweet!
Kathy Griffin Steps In
For several years, Joan had been slaying all the celebs and their questionable red carpet choices on Fashion Police, and had planned to continue doing so. But as the saying goes, the show must go on!
It was announced in November that Kathy would be filling Joan’s stilettos– or at least attempting to. While it’s obviously devastating that Joan won’t be here for this and every other awards season, we feel better knowing that her throne is in such worthy hands as Kathy’s.
Are you guys watching the new season of Fashion Police? What do you think of Kathy as a replacement for Joan? Tell us!
